Dorothy Nichols

Visitation for Dorothy Nichols, 90, will be 5-8 PM Friday at The Well of Living
Water Church at 1701 Bailey Street in West Monroe. Funeral Services will be at 2
PM on Saturday at New Bethel Baptist Church at 134 Bethel Church Road in
Rayville with the Rev. Michael Baldwin officiating. Interment will follow at New
Bethel Baptist Cemetery in Rayville under the direction of Mitchell Funerals and
Cremations of Winnsboro, LA.

Dorothy was born on March 19, 1932, in Mangham, LA to the union of Jack and
Estelle Stokes and passed from this life on Tuesday January 10, 2023, at LSU
Ochsner Shreveport after a brief illness.

She was a resident of West Monroe. She was a devoted wife to the late Lester
Nichols for 63 years. She loved everyone deeply and always had a smile on her
face. Dorothy loved to work in her yard tending to the plants and flowers. She
also enjoyed watching the birds and squirrels play outside her widow.

Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Brenda Barnette, sister,
Mary Ashton and husband, Lester Nichols.

Beloved Mother of Rebecca McDaniel, Tina Nichols, Joel Nichols and Pamela
Head; Grandmother of seven, Great Grandmother of nine.

Pallbearers will be Michael McDaniel, John Barnette, Christopher Barnette,
Matthew McDaniel, Brian McDaniel and Thomas Baldwin.
