April Dawn Rodriguez took her first breath April 9, 1961 and her last breath on September 26, 2023 with her loving husband and sister, Jamie, by her side.
April viewed each day as a blank page for her to fill with adventures, she never met a stranger, only a potential new friend. She was an avid connoisseur of musicals such as Auntie Mame, a trait she
inherited honestly from her mother, Rhonda. April was an extreme force to be reckoned with, stories for decades will attest to the fact that you did not speak ill of her family or southern roots, both of which she was immensely proud. Adorned in cowboy boots, bright red hair, perfect blue eyes and her signature bright red nails, April graced the Earth on her many travels listening to heavy metal,
frequenting her favorite places like: Disneyland, Cathedrals, Mexican restaurants (but only authentic Mexican food, obviously) and anywhere her family was. April was known by many to never say “no” to the invitation of adventure, her adventures included but were not limited to waking at 4am to spontaneously drive to New Orleans for a single beignet, impromptu trips to Las Vegas with any friends willing to go, driving across country on her Harley-Davidson and more recently, starting a small farm at her home with a pig, 2 dogs, 2 giant tortoises and a coop full of chickens. April loved her family. April lived for her family. Her loving husband Tone was the apple of her eye and object of her affections, she lovingly referred to their relationship as 2 drag racers on the drag strip as opposed to some circling the track. Her son, Damon made her the proudest of mothers and she was never short on words to tell you about him or her grandchildren. April had a geographic origin but to her, home was always wherever she could be closest to her family. She was the keeper of all her family history and the absolute bar setter for telling stories. She would animate her stories in such a theatrical way, you felt you knew the people she was referring to by the end of her tale. April said yes, she said yes to her family, she said yes to her friends, she said yes to new opportunities, she said yes to adventures, and she said yes to life. April’s free spirit, larger than life personality and all that she embodied will be missing from us indefinitely. Through April’s love for Jesus Christ, she was welcomed home by many family members to which we can only assume she immediately asked “Alright, what’s the deal here, give me the scoop on how this place is run?”
Ladies and Gentlemen, our redhead has left the building.
April is survived by the love of her life, her husband Tone Rodriguez, her son Aaron Damon Lawrence, his wife Katie and their 3 children, Beau, Jack and Rhett along with many family members and friends.
Details pending on her Worldwide au revoir, to take place at the Blarney Castle and Gardens in Ireland with guest appearances from Tom Jones, Liz Taylor, Ozzy Osbourne and the artist formerly
known as Prince.
